The Open Media Foundation is announcing a free service for employers looking to attract diverse candidates in media and communications careers. We will help hone job descriptions for inclusivity and promote your employment opportunities to a wide range of outlets and job boards. We will track candidates and applicants and schedule interviews, pairing qualified candidates with OJT and Work Experience programs to support diverse and disadvantaged jobseekers.

Our mission is to simplify the hiring process while attracting more diverse applicants to Colorado’s media & communications industry. We are the glue between Colorado job seekers and employers, leveraging partnerships from schools, mentorship and job-readiness programs committed to expanding diversity and opportunity in the Colorado media workforce.

What is diversity and inclusiveness?

Diversity is the condition of having or being composed of differing elements : VARIETY, especially : the inclusion of different types of people (such as people of different races or cultures) in a group or organization

The short answer for the question “what is diversity”  can be best defined as – “diversity and inclusive practice includes gender, religion, race, age, disability, linguistic differences, socio-economic status and cultural background.”  

 Likewise, the brief answer for “what is inclusion” could be best described as “Inclusive practice is known to be attitudes, approaches and strategies taken make sure that students are not excluded from the learning environment because their differences.” A more detailed explanation of “what is diversity”  has been described by various groups using a variety of terms and explanations. For examples,

  1. Diversity includes everything that we are and that we are not.

  2. Diversity encompasses all those differences that make us unique

  3. The term “workforce diversity” is commonly known as it relates to “what is diversity” in an employer’s business location. Similarities and differences among employees in terms of age, cultural background, physical abilities, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.
